Rjukan Ice kick-off
Rjukan Adventure and partners proudly present 2009 / 2010 ice season kick-off in Rjukan, December 26 - 27.
For almost a decade, Rjukan has been the number one ice climbing area in Europe so we believe a party to celebrate the start of the season, is in order. On the program we have free clinics, climbing film: "Ice Mines" (Banff Mountain Film Festival, Discovery, Jeep World) and slideshow by special guest Fredrik Sträng.
Clinic - "Leading ice"
Learn how to be on the sharp end of the rope, and still be safe and efficient. There are tons of tips and tricks to learn about leading ice and placing ice screws, and here you have the chance to learn from some of the most experienced ice climbers in the world.
This clinic is for climbers that are comfortable climbing on top rope and have basic ice climbing skills. This clinic is free of charge.

Celebrate the start of the ice season at Buddy's Pub in center of Rjukan, with slideshow, award winning ice climbing film and party!

Whatch Will Gadd and Andreas Spak explore some of the world's best ice climbing, deep down in Swedish iron mines, in the award winning film Ice Mines (Banff Mountain Film Festival, Jeep World, Discovery Channel). Andreas Spak will do a short presentation of the film.
21:00 - Special guest Fredrik Sträng
Film and lecture by special guest Fredrik Sträng. Fredrik is a Swedish climber and adventurer that has an impressive list of achievments, including a peaks such as Mount Everest, Makalu and Lhotse, a 7-summits world record and numerous scientific expeditions. In 2008 he helped rescuing climbers on K2 during the tragic avalanche that killed 11 persons.

Clinic - "multi-pitch"
Learn some magic tricks for climbing multi-pitch routes, that will increase your speed and efficiency on long ice routes. Andreas Spak has done some of the biggest ice routes in the world and he will share some of his experiences during this clinic.
This clinic is for everyone, from novice climbers to seasoned veterans. No matter what level you are at, you will be able to pick up tons of useful stuff from this clinic.
